Jurisdiction, Venue & Initial Filings — Starting Every Case the Right Way

  • 2 Weeks

About

Every successful family law case begins with knowing where and how to file. In this class, you’ll learn how to properly identify the parties, determine jurisdiction and venue, and understand when personal jurisdiction is or isn’t required—especially in cases involving non-residents. We’ll then move into the practical side of preparing initial pleadings and filing forms, including how to draft a Verification and Summons, complete a Case Filing Information Form, and prepare the Standing Order required at the start of every domestic case. By the end of this session, you’ll understand not just the legal foundation for filing a family law action, but also the exact steps and documents needed to open a case correctly and confidently. Digital, editable versions of all forms used in this Class are included with your registration — actionable templates your team can implement immediately to streamline drafting, reduce errors, and reinforce what they’ve learned. _______________________________ Want to take it a step further?
